The Knitting Olympics are over. No, I didn't finish my project so I didn't claim a medal but I did claim a moral victory -- I learned that I can indeed knit lace. I also learned that to successfully knit lace and finish a project, I shouldn't do it if I'm tired, stressed out, in a hurry, or there are distractions around me. I'll try again when things calm down, and without that insane deadline.
Meanwhile, the Wildfoote Socks are still in progress. One of the other things I learned in the past month is that no matter how crazy the world gets around me, I can still knit socks and not mess them up... well, not too badly. I only had to frog one of the cuffs. One sock is done to the kitchener toe, and the other is about to have its heel turned. I'm already casting an eye around for the yarn for the next sock, which I'll probably start next week.
We've been renting a lot of British television programs from Netflix for the past several months and have seen some really interesting stuff. My husband and I are both passionately interested in history and there is plenty on the UK boob toob to keep us happy. Here's what we've been looking at lately:

This is Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor in Doctor Who, a program about a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey. The Doctor travels around the universe and through time in a T.A.R.D.I.S. (Time And Relative Dimension In Space) that looks like a London police box, and he and his Companions save the world from various menaces. Mr. Davison is also well-known for his role as Tristan Farnon in All Creatures Great and Small. Recently, he's been doing detective shows and the like.
History will be a Persistent Theme in this blog, let me tell ya.
