Where did the week go?

Actually, I know where it went. I've been out-of-mind-busy for about the last two weeks, and only today thought "oh, when was the last time I blogged?"

We bought our car, a bright blue Honda Fit. We love it already. It's big enough to do what we need it to do, and it gets great mileage -- we got 38 mpg on our first tank.

There's the first Italian Sock for your viewing pleasure. I've been plugging slowly away at the Sampler Etc, and cast on for the Celtic Tote again, this time in a nice medium brown ("Wild Oak" is the color name) yarn. So far, I like it just fine. I'm on my third cast-on in this color, due to bad mistakes made by me. I'm working on the tote just a few rows at a time, when I'm feeling pretty alert, and putting it down before I do something stupid to it. So far, so good.

One of my colleagues gave me a Jackson and Perkins rose catalog. It's like a gourmet meal to my eyes... I'm thinking of getting this one but our climate is so hard on flowers. Maybe I'll just cut out the picture.

Last night we watched "Who the #$&% Is Jackson Pollock?," a documentary about a trash-mouthed little lady truck driver who bought a drip painting at a thrift store and smacked head-on into the insular world of art curators and collectors when she suggested it might have been painted by Pollock. If you want to see living representatives of the term "hidebound," take a look at this film.
