It's been a busy summer so far, and it's only early July! I don't have any project pictures today, but I might be posting some later... I felt compelled to join the Tour de Fleece, an event which is similar to the Knitting Olympics, but completely different. In the T de F, you are supposed to spin every day from July 3 through July 21, while the Tour de France bicycle race is going on. However, you don't have to set a goal for yourself to participate, just try to spin every day.
I threw in with Team Fleece Bottom Girls, which is a bunch of spinners who are in it for fun and to encourage each other. Sounds good to me. I put our avatar in my button bin, at left.
So I got out my seemingly endless ball of Perendale wool roving and spun some up this evening. I had a heck of a time with it, however; no matter what I did, my yarn drifed apart and for a while it didn't seem like I've been spinning for thirty years -- yes, it was in 1980 that I first learned to spin and when I bought my original Ashford Traditional wheel-- which by the way is still going strong. Anyway, it took a lot of adjusting and messing around with the tensions to get anything spun. I did about half a bobbin-full before hanging it up for the evening.
We did a pretty good hike this afternoon, and I'm beat... I think I'll hang the blog up for the evening as well. More on the T de F later!
