On a whim

The Dahlia Cardi is on hold for the moment; I can't find the fourth skein of Ultra Alpaca Find that I was sure I had.  If I need to order another skein, it will be of a different dye lot and I'll want to use that for the lace panel, as the elaborate stitch pattern will fool the eye and any difference will not be noticeable.  I went over to the LYS to see if they still had that one last skein of my dye lot and found that they had sold it last week.  The hunt is still on for the one I'm supposed to have.

In frustration, I flipped through the Fall 2011 Interweave Knits and found myself drawn to the Shadow Tuque pattern.  One skein of Peruvia Quick later, and I was on my way to a fast, interesting, satisfying knit.  I think it took me all of about five hours, start to finish, to crank this one out.

Earlier this spring, we had a cold snap and I responded by doing some stash diving and coming up with the yarn to make this one -- the Quest Cap.  It was another fast, easy knit, and the finished product is really cute.  That brim stands out (follow the link to see one on a human) like a soft riding helmet.  Like the Shadow Tuque, the Quest Cap was a whim knit.

In job news, I have a telephone interview on Friday with a great potential employer.  Wish me luck.
