Like I needed another...
Hole in the head. I needed another project like I needed another hole in the head. But the Amazing A--, A-- and I were going to do this project as a crochet-along beginning December 8th, so start it I did. I'm about halfway through Motif Number Two of Twenty Eight (!) and as complex as this looks, it's fairly simple if you keep track of what you've done and where you are. Amazing A-- plans to take it with her to Antarctica when she goes in a few weeks, so I think all three of us are in this for the long haul. In case you were wondering, this is the Patterned Hexagons Bag (in sidebar at left).
The Pretty Cashmere Thing is still going, as is the Christmas Sock. Everything else is at rest until one thing or another is finished, as my attention is paid to it. How can I be so lackadaisical about the Christmas Sock?! Well, I have another pair almost finished, the Berries and Cream Socks, and if I run out of time or gas, I can finish those in a hurry and get them into the Emperor's stocking.
The Emperor and I were planning to go to Not That Far Away Really Big City this weekend for a special event, but yesterday we both came down with wicked colds. Although I've been able to function at school so far, as the hours go on, it looks less and less likely that we'll go anywhere this weekend but back and forth between kitchen, bathroom, and bed. Since my semester will be over by then, I can take the time to just rest and maybe get some real knitting done. We're thinking about going up to my sister's place in the Frozen North for the holiday, weather (and now health) depending. We could just end up staying here for the six weeks that school is not in session. Oh, who knows?
Rats! This is the first time I've had a cold since 2008.
While I'm enjoying some Christmas stuff -- I've got the Charlie Brown Christmas album playing on my iTunes right now -- for some reason I'm just not that excited about it this year. Maybe it's because I've been too busy to really think about it much, or maybe I need to sit down and watch one or two of my time-tested favorite movies to get in the mood. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer usually does it in one shot.
All I know is that the new Hobbit movie is opening this weekend. Rich or poor, sick or healthy, we're going. We've been waiting for this movie for about five years and nothing's going to keep us from seeing it.
