The other side of the New Year, I mean. We are slated to leave Sis's place later today, but I'm waiting to make my final pack until the Emperor gets out of bed. He came down with a cold yesterday (his third one in six weeks) and I am not going make a reservation for our halfway-home hotel room until he is proclaimed Ready to Travel. Meanwhile, here's the money-shot of the Blue Bonnet I made for my brother-in-law. It has been felted, and he wanted the toorie (the little ball on the crown) after all. It fits him perfectly, and he does rock the jaunty angle of this little beauty very well. It's nice to finish the year with a finished object.
Here's the Really Big Cowl that I made for Sis. She's already wearing it outdoors and around town, and proclaims it to be perfect.
Sis also has not come out from under the pink polka dot dachshund blanket that I edged for her. I was right -- she could not resist the cheerful little dogs all over it. So all in all, I feel pretty good about what I brought to put under the tree this year.
While it's time to go and get back to our own home at Smack In The Middle, I don't really want to leave The West this time. I find that I miss the high scrubbed beauty of the western slope of the Rockies, and when I'm in the middle of my semesters I dream of being here. I guess it's always a good thing to have a place in your life that you want to go to, and that you can actually get to every now and then. We'll be back this summer when the creek is rushing and the pines scent the air.
