Finishituppus

Or, I'm working on it.

One of the things that happens when you keep plugging away at a project is that eventually you finish it.  I realized over the weekend that I'm somewhere between twenty and twenty-five rows away from being done with the main body of the Jupiter Cardigan.  It's become evident that I've got enough yarn, too, so it's possible, just possible, that I could be wearing this thing when the weather gets colder.

Meanwhile, I started the funniest little project: a crocheted Day of the Dead bracelet.  I'm not sure why, but I just had to try making it, and so far it's a hoot.  You make four or five little skulls, and then crochet them together in a strip and make button holes on one end.  The instructions (found on Ravelry) are really clear, and as long as you don't mind a little fiddly-ness, they're fairly easy to make.  Each skull is about an inch and a half square, so I'm figuring on making five for each bracelet I crank out.  It takes about 45 minutes to crank one out, but they get faster as you go and learn the tricks.  Part of the fun has been digging up or finding the cotton thread (Number 10 crochet thread, if you're counting) in bright colors.  I could still use some kind of green and maybe some red.

As I get closer to finishing Jupiter, I've been thinking about what my next project should be.  Should I finish an existing project (Victory Turban?  White Caps Cowl?  Pi Shawl?  One of the socks?) or should I begin a new one?  I don't need a hat, and I certainly don't need a cowl or scarf, but I could use a pair of mittens and I have some lovely patterns.  Well, when I make up my mind, you can count on my coming over here and telling you all about it.
