A Little Unraveled

The Emperor and I traveled to Far-ish Regional City To The South for a meeting over the weekend, and I returned with one whale of a cold.  I'm pretty miserable, and actually glad that if necessary, I can stay home from my office for an entire week because of my schedule.  I've got nice wireless internet access at home (hello, blog!), so I can grade things from here for my online courses.  I think I'll put on a pot of tea and do a little knitting.  I'd rather be working on my book, but I think I'd just fill Kleenexes and struggle to stay awake and coat my office with germs if I went to school.  This cold is going around -- even my hardiest colleagues have been down with it, so I don't feel like a total weenie.

Our meeting down south was held in a museum.  While I didn't take the time to look at the exhibits (I was already becoming miserable, and was facing a long drive home) I did spend a few minutes in the museum's store, just long enough to come out with a pair of Buffalo Gold fingerless gloves.  Not surprisingly, they are the exact color of a bison -- they are made from bison down, which is soft and warm and a generally beautiful fiber.  I just looked online -- I think the museum made a mistake, because I paid half of what the Buffalo Gold people are asking for a pair on their website.  They were still pricey, but I knew I would use them so went ahead and got them.  I think it will be a while yet before I can make another pair myself.

As for knitting, the Hana Scarf is back on the cone for the third time.  I made another fatal error with it last night and ended up frogging it again.  I'll give it another go when I finish this post and make that tea. It's not the pattern, it's not the yarn, it's me.  This happens.  I just need to be persistent.

We received Florence Foster Jenkins from Netflix the other day.  I think I'll put it on after the Emperor makes a little something to eat, and just admit to taking an enforced lazy day today.

Hungry!  Time to go.
