My dear husband, better known as the Emperor of the Garage, is getting new clothes.
The Fortissima Colori yarn purchased at the LYS April 1 sale is becoming a pair of custom-sized socks. The color changes are a lot of fun and the knitting is flying by -- I started them on Saturday and I've already done nine inches of k2p2 ribbing for a cuff and have started the heel on one. I plan to continue the ribbing down the top of the foot to see how it turns out and so far so good. They're bright and happy socks, so I'm calling them the Emperor's Fiesta Feet Socks. The Emperor himself saw it yesterday and remarked, "Hey, that's great! Will you make me a pair like that?" Gotta love the man.
Meanwhile, I've toted the Pink Sockotta socks to and from work and to and from an out-of-town workshop and have only done a little bit on them. They're going to be for me so I'm not in a rush, but at that out-of-town workshop I wore nothing but my own handmade socks for both days (read: wore both pairs of my handmade socks) and got seriously hooked on their looks and comfort level. I had better get hot on the schtick and make some more so I can get through a week wearing only handmade socks on my feet!
This afternoon I dropped by the LYS to get a set of no.7 DPNs for the French Market Bag. I couldn't resist picking up a skein of bright yellow Lopi -- is it still stash enrichment if you buy one skein in order to use up three partial skeins? Or is it strategic aquisition? Anyway, while at the LYS the woman three people ahead of me in line had a finished French Market Bag with her. Must remember to write to Polly and tell her I saw her design in the wild.
