aargh

Well, I didn't turn the heel for the Child's French Sock, I committed a fatal error and ended up frogging it instead. However, I cast on for it again right away, and even cast on the second sock so I can do them both at once. I'm about halfway through each cuff. It's still a fun pattern.

I've been messing around with the Pi Shawl again, this time using actual laceweight (Knitpicks' Shimmer, Stained Glass) and no. 4 needles. Laceweight yarn doesn't seem as scary to me right now as it has been, so I'm taking advantage of my yarn courage and trying to get past the cast on.

Last night the Emperor and I watched Sophia Coppola's film, Marie Antoinette. What an interesting take on the end of the French monarchy! It's a visually beautiful film (oh, the colors) and well-acted. Coppola uses rock and roll music to close the gap between the historic characters and her modern audience, and I think it works. We also watched A Bridge to Terabithia, and I'm not going to write about it except to say that I loved the book as a child and the movie slammed me right between the eyes, it was so well done. We're trying to get out and see Ratatouille this week, before Harry Potter madness seizes this town and we can't get close to the theater.
