There has been a real mix of ups and downs here at Orchard Ranch in the past few days. Things at work have been interesting and fun in the best sense of the words. Home life has been great. Knitting life... oh.
I think I tripped and fell into the frog pond and have become stuck in the sludge at the bottom.
On Friday, I had both Child's French Socks on the needles, cuff done, and started the pattern repeats for the leg on one... made a fatal mistake, spent hours trying to fix it, frogged, and then proceeded to do the same thing with the other one. I think I've knit a whole pair, if you took all of my attempts and put them in one place. Then, as if to punish myself, I got a Pi Shawl on the needles, got it through the 144-stitch phase, made a mistake, spent two days trying to fix it, frogged it, yadda yadda blah. I cast on about eight times for a laceweight scarf in Victorian Lace Today, each time getting a couple of rows in before making a real goof and frogging it.
Now I'm scared to pick up the Emperor's sweater. You'd think that there isn't anything a person could do to eighteen inches of plain old straight stockinette... but the way things have been lately... I don't want to tempt the knitting goddesses.
Not sure what the next step is, but I'm not giving up. Maybe I'll pop over to the LYS and see if they have any inspiration.
News: the LYS owner is trying to sell the building, but not the shop, although she says she doesn't know what she'll do with it if the building sells. More as the story develops.
