Writing from Cymru

That's Wales, if you wondered. The Emperor and I are comfortably ensconced in a hotel in Cardiff and considering what adventure we should take on in our hunt for dinner soon. We had a blast in Exeter. We found Sir Francis Drake's favorite pub, the Ship Inn, almost immediately and had supper there twice (but not on the same day). We took a bus out to Christow, a tiny village situated almost in Dartmoor National Park, and found the church where the real historical character of Admiral Edward Pellew is buried (I'll put pictures in another blog entry later). The next day, we took the train down to Teignmouth and viewed the Teignmouth and Shaldon Museum, which has a nifty little exhibit on Pellew including his tricorne hat and his un-dress uniform. We spent most of the day with the curator and the archivist, laughing merrily and trading stories about historical figures.

Anyway, we have four days in Wales and there's a computer here in the lobby of the hotel so I'll check back in and perhaps write a little more about our adventures as they happen. Still no photos yet but it will be fun to catch up when we get home, in about two weeks.
