Back again, already?

Yep, if I can get in and out of a blog post in a matter of minutes, I'm more likely to post. Above is a picture of my tomatoes! About the first of June, the Emperor and I decided that we wanted a small tomato garden, so we bought three big plastic tubs, and after he drilled good holes in the bottoms for drainage, I planted one red and one yellow tomato plant. In the third tub, the Emperor planted four hot pepper plants. We've been visiting them, and watering them, and we put a deer-proof and robin-proof fence around them, on top of a picnic table. During the nine days we were away in Seattle, my tomatoes exploded with growth, and even put on little fruits. They look pretty big in the picture, but those little guys are about the size of marbles. When they're grown, they'll be taxicab yellow. The Emperor's peppers are still in flowering stage.

I view robins as impudent birds, striding around my yard like they do. The first year we lived 'way out West, I planted some small tomato plants in the yard and as I watched from the kitchen window, unable to get out of the door quickly enough, a robin strode through my garden and with his beak snipped all of my plants right down to the roots, for no good reason. Impudent bird! I've learned how to use chicken wire since then. Harumph.
