Yet Again

Once again, events conspired to lead me to forget my "blogiversary" on February 1.  I've been at this for seven years!  I've just been so busy with work that I haven't felt like firing up a computer and writing at home. I have done a little bit of knitting, however, finishing one thing and beginning another..

First, the Pretty Cashmere Thing is finished and blocked, and I've even worn it a few times.  About three-fourths of the way through the pattern, I figured out that I'd done the center section backward, but to be perfectly honest, I can't see how it would look different if made pattern-correct.

It was simple enough that I'd think about doing another one, this time out of a slightly heavier yarn and in a darker color.  Maybe.  I just really like it.  It sits around my neck like a loose turtleneck, and it's feather-light and warm.

I also finished two of these cute little hats for those twins that our department administrative assistant is expecting in April.  Her sister is throwing a baby shower for her next week, and now I have something to put in a package --two of them.

Along with these hats, I'm making a pair of those baby snuggle sacks that are so popular lately, and I'm using this same yarn for them.  Knit Picks Comfy is a cotton-acrylic blend but it's thick, soft and cuddly.  And very, very green.  I think the sacks are going to take a little bit longer than one more week, so I'll wrap up the caps and tell S -- that the snuggies are in the works.

I've got a couple of small projects on the needles right now -- a cowl, and the Emperor's Christmas socks.  A few weeks ago I bought the yarn to make a Wurm hat to go with my red coat, and some time ago I pulled out the yarn to make a Cactus Tea Cozy.  I'd love to start another project or two, but I am resisting the urge until I finish at least one of the other projects I've got going.

Is anybody else watching Downton Abbey?  We got hooked on the program after getting the DVDs via Netflix, and were practically holding our breath for this season's episodes.  Without giving away the plot, I will say that it's been a roller coaster ride.  We both went through a pile of tissues before it was over.  I'd had the benefit (?!) of seeing a few spoilers so I was a little bit prepared for the drama, so when the Emperor proposed putting the last episode aside for a while I was relieved.  I know what's coming and want him, at least, to have a chance to recover from the rest of the episodes before watching again.  I put the DVDs on the shelf and got out the Foyle's War set, and we have some interesting things coming from Netflix, so I think we can forget about Downton for a while.  It's funny how those characters have gotten under our skin.
