Guh.

Craft room organization update: the wine bottle separator angle did not work.  Desperate, I scooped up the Emperor and drove out to Medium City to look for something that would do the trick.  I spent a good bit of time scanning the aisles of Dollar Tree, Tuesday Morning, Hobby Lobby, Marshalls, and Big Lots!, coming away with some nifty organization things but no chip boards to wrap fabric around.  So today, I'm going to pack away that fabric I unpacked last week, shove it out of the way, and forge ahead on the rest of the room until I can get the fabric thing figured out.  I might just end up ordering comic book bag inserts after all.

The drive scratched an itch for me, too; I've been aching for a road trip since school let out, but I wanted to save any real traveling for next week at the earliest.  The Monkees are playing at one of the Major Metropolitan Centers in the region and we're thinking about going to see them.  Later in June we're going back to the same city for a professional meeting.  In early July, we're heading Into The West to visit my sister and some friends.  Thus, I wanted to save any big travel (anything necessitating an overnight stay) for later.  Going to Medium City made me much less inclined to throw a couple of days' underwear in a bag and run.

As you can see above, I finished the first of the Emperor's Pretty-Secret Christmas Socks, and I've got a good start on the second one.  I do most of the work in the evenings, when we settle down to watch a movie or whatever arrives from Netflix.  We're working our way through the Thin Man movies at the moment.  When you first start watching them, they're amusing, but if you let yourself think about them they're not as funny.  I just can't find humor in excessive drinking, even if Nick Charles doesn't seem to show the effects of his never-ending series of cocktails.

Okay, it's back to the salt mines for me.  I'll report back in a day or so with a progress report on the craft room.  Or not.
