The second Crayon Sock is finished, and the Emperor loves his new clothes. I think that this sock constitutes a record... less than ten days from cast-on to kitchener-off. I set another record in photographing the finished product, as the needles were still warm when I set the socks on the front porch and snapped the above, and then immediately got everything blogged.
Friday night we motored over to Nearby Large-ish City for a Night Out, as I had an early Saturday morning appointment with a hair stylist (truly talented and well worth the couple-a-hundred-mile round trip). The Emperor and I had dinner in a favorite place, spent a little time at a bookstore with a coffee bar, and when we returned to our hotel we watched cable television, a rare treat, if you can call it that-- we usually just end up reassured that there truly is nothing on worth a cable subscription. We did catch two episodes of "Meerkat Manor", a program much-discussed at the One Horse Popsicle Stand on Saturday nights. Now we can knowledgably participate in the discussion -- where is Shakespeare?
While in the area, I managed to visit Wild Purls (sadly website-less) on Broadwater in Billings, Montana. It's one of the few shops in an otherwise abandoned mall, but its cheerful exterior allayed my fears that it was gone before I'd even found it. Open since August 1 of last year, Wild Purls features a huge stock of Mountain Colors yarn as well as many gourmet varieties not carried by my local LYS. There was more Noro in one place than I'd ever seen anywhere, and oh! the colors. The folks were friendly and there were already a few knitters chatting and clicking around the huge table in the front room. Wild Purls hosts a lot of classes and is poised to become a center for the southern Montana knitting community.
