The "World Famous" Lipizzaner stallions performed in a city not too far away from 'Way Out West, so the Emperor and I went to see them, with our friends from One Horse Ranch. I've loved these pretty white horses since I was a horse-crazy kid of nine years old, and it was worth the price of admission. It had been raining here pretty steadily for three days before the show, so when we got to the county fairgrounds we wondered how they would deal with all of that mud. The show arena was about six inches deep with it, so the show organizers just moved everything out to the best gravel parking lot on the grounds, set up some bleachers, and started selling tickets. I didn't get any really good pictures, but we still had a blast. You can see what the weather was like -- it commenced raining again a few hours later and continued for two more days. All but one of the riders were women, which is a departure from tradition, but they were good riders and the horses were achingly beautiful. They danced, literally, to classical music. The horses had such soft-looking eyes. Ooh, you can't tell I'm scared to death of horses, can you? I love looking at them, but the idea of getting on one... arrrgh. Something I'll have to work on, eh?
The Emperor and I decided that we'd try to see the show again, next time at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, Austria. Yeah, this is when the American economy recovers a little and the dollar gets closer to the Euro and I can drag us somewhere besides Britain. But, it's something to shoot for.
So this weekend, I decided that I had made one error too many in the lace portion of the Lotus Tank Top, so I whisked it off the needles and got out the measuring tape. Hoo, boy, that was smart because I wasn't even close to gauge -- for the first time in my knitting life, I'm going to have to use the recommended needle size. Well, the project is back in progress, and I'm about two thirds of the way caught up to where I was before, and I'm liking the fabric even better. So, knitting continues at Orchard Ranch.
That's my news. Carry on!
