Here I am, emerging from my cave, blinking at the light and not bearing any photographs to show you this time. I'm still really busy with school, up to my eyeballs in stuff to grade, and under a couple of deadlines. But, I'm still loving it.
I've been working on that Truly Tasha's Shawl for about, dunno, eighteen months or something like that. I'm just yards from finishing my third and last ball of the dark purple yarn, and made the mistake of getting out the tape measure, using math, and figuring out how big it really is ... or isn't as the case may be. I'm going to come up significantly short of having enough yarn to make a true shawl out of this project, and it's going to be too big and bulky to make a nice scarfy thing. I've set it aside for a little bit while I think it over... I should just go ahead and put the lace edge on and then if it really doesn't work for me, I can put it in one of those silent auctions that I knit for. But... grrr.
Meanwhile, I've dug out the Ribbed Scarf with Crocheted Edging that I started, um, in December 2008. I'd done about fifteen inches on it before stashing it, and since digging it out have added about three more inches. It's a gorgeous project, I can't wait to finish it, but it's a very slow-moving knit. I'll keep at it, like I did on the shawl, until I get something.
This morning I dove into the stash and emerged with a ball of Jawoll sock yarn to get a sock going again. If the Emperor doesn't claim it for himself after a few inches of knitting, I'll just make it for me. We both love wearing handknit socks in winter (which lasts from about mid-October until June here) so we can both use more pairs. According to the label, the yarn will make blue and brown stripes.
Remember the Tofutsie Trudge? The socks that took nearly a year to get through because the color pattern bored me to tears? Well, they haven't lasted very long. I've worn holes in them, darned them, and worn holes in them again already! Perhaps they came apart so easily because I used too-large needles on too-soft yarn, but they didn't hold up to wear at all. I'll use them for bed socks now.
And finally, I'm poised on the edge of starting another sweater, but can't decide which one. I have the yarn to make Juno (that sweater from Rowan 43, with the Celtic knot portrait collar). I've got the yarn to make the Ropes and Picots Cardigan (the squared jacket from Interweave Knits Winter 09). I've got the yarn to make the Chanel-inspired jacket (in Knitter's Best: Jackets for Work and Play). But I find myself drawn to Mythos, which is in the latest edition of Knitty. If I'm smart, though, I'll stick to knitting socks because otherwise I'm so busy!
Back to work.
