Caught up

It took a while, but I finally got caught up with everything that was delayed while I was sick.  This heady feeling will only last a short while, however, because on Monday and Tuesday I'll be getting a new stack of papers, and on Thursday and Friday I'll stagger under three sets of exams.  All of these must be graded by the following Monday, because we have to turn in mid-term grades by then.

Our state's Presidential caucus was held yesterday, and the Emperor and I did our civic duty and attended.  We arrived very early and found seats, and we'd both brought books with us to pass the time until the action began, but I was too excited to sit down for long.  There were two best parts to the day -- first, I found that a good many of my acquaintances are like-minded and are concerned with the same things we are.  Second, the candidate I am supporting -- Bernie Sanders -- won handily.  It was a great day.  That's all I can say -- it was a great day.

I am still not knitting, nor am I crocheting, and I have laid aside the beads.  For the past few days, I've been doing simple embroidery -- stem stitch over line drawings on cotton dish towels, to be used in our kitchen.  I picked out an "Aunt Martha" iron-on pattern because I didn't want to use up too much brain power on this project, and found one with tea pots.  I'm nearly finished with my second dish towel, and plan to have the whole stack decorated by the end of next week.  Then, I'm going to rotate out my dish towels that have been used to threadbare-ness and put them in the dusting drawer.  You see, I know from past experience that if I try to use undecorated towels for my kitchen, they end up in the garage, the car, or anywhere but in the clean dish towel drawer.  This is also a great excuse to take a project from beginning to end fairly quickly, which is something I would like right now.
