A few things were finished over that Thanksgiving break. I ended up assembling the desk myself, by hand, with only a screwdriver. I still have to make the cabinet that goes on top, but the lion's share of the desk is complete and it could actually be used right now, if it were in a more convenient location. I cooked Thanksgiving dinner, which consisted of a turkey, sweet potatoes, brussels sprouts, and peas, plus a pumpkin pie. I graded my last stack of papers albeit at the eleventh hour. I volunteered at the historical society a couple of times, helping them to get ready for the Christmas open house. I went over to Artistic A--'s house and did a little weaving one afternoon. Okay, I was not the blur of productivity I'd hoped to be, and I spent a goodly amount of time wishing the Emperor would get out of bed, but I did get a lot of rest, something I sorely needed.
Oh! Knitting did occur -- I picked up last year's Secret Christmas Sock and after several day's evening knit sessions, I am ready for the heel flap on the first one. It's been a long time since I worked with #2 sock needles and fingering weight wool, and it feels like I'm working with very tiny thread and needles. I will not comment on a finishing date for these socks as that seems to be the kiss of death for my projects in recent months. But they're flying along, at least this week.
on edit... Looking back at the posts I made at the beginning of the break, I can see that I actually did quite a bit. If I can be productive like that over Christmas break... we might get somewhere. Where, I don't know, but somewhere.
