Sock, no car

The first Child's French Sock is finished. The toe was touch-and-go for a bit there, but it's finally done, it fits, has been washed and blocked, and I'm casting on for the second. Pi Shawl is still hitching along. Our research on the Honda Fit is still in progress.

So, early Saturday morning the Emperor and I put our coffee into travel mugs and make the hundred-mile drive to Nearby Medium City to do some city shopping rounds. But first, we sought out and found the Honda dealership to see a Fit. As we parked and walked up, we could see the cadre of salesmen eyeballing us from inside their big glass office. As we walked among the new cars, one of the salesmen came out of the ice cube and asked us what we wanted. I asked to see a Honda Fit, and after he replied he didn't have any, didn't expect any, and hardly ever got any (any Fits. Anything else you think of, keep in mind for the end of this story). Just as I was asking for literature I could take with me, or to be put on a waiting list, Mr. Sales Genius walked away from me, went back to the ice cube, and shut the door behind him.

Needless to say, we won't be buying anything from that dealership!

Later we talked to a fleet-resale place, and they were terrific. If we go used, we'll buy from them no matter what. But, has anybody else ever had a car salesman not try to see them something they didn't reallly want? I mean, it was positively bald. And I don't mean hairless.

Sheesh.
