And the saga of the sock goes on... I finally got up the guts to look at the pitiful remains of the second Child's French sock and figure out what would get it moving again. When I put it down, I had lost several stitches in the lace section and my count was irretrievably off. When I picked it up again yesterday, the correct number of stitches had reappeared. So, I just started knitting again as if nothing had stopped me. Yes, that pattern repeat looks extremely wonky, but I'm grinding away again and plan to finish before the end of Summer of Socks, a week from tomorrow.
Yep, that equals one pair of socks completed in three months. Well, it's one more pair than I knitted in the previous three months! This just hasn't been my year for socks. And, the second sock isn't finished yet, so I'd better get hopping.
This sure has been the year for travel, particularly professional travel. In two weeks I'm headed to Washington, D.C., and a week after that to Oklahoma City. Two weeks later, the Emperor and I are off to England. Two weeks after our return, I'm off to Italy on business. For travel knitting, I'm going to take the Pi Shawl on at least the first two trips, and I bought an Addi Bamboo circular needle, to appease the airport nazis. It's a nice needle, light and pointy enough to get the job done on this project. If I were to do another lace project, I'd want one of those more-pointed sets.
For the European trips, I'm not sure what knitting to take along yet. Perhaps the Pi Shawl will still need finishing. Well, it should be something on a circular needle, preferably bamboo or even plastic. It's something to think about...
I wish I wish I wish I could write about that D.C. trip, but since I don't write about work on this blog I won't. Well, I can say that I've never been there before, and although there won't be much time to sightsee I hope I can go look at the Constitution, maybe see the Mall.
