Ohhh, I just have to tell you... I finished Butch's tam o' shanter. It's now blocking and it is too doggoned cute for words. Elizabeth Zimmermann suggests that a knitter should block a tam with a "Thanksgiving dinner plate" but for my little hat I got out a jar lid with a narrow rim, stretched the damp hat over it, and put it upside down on a towel. I decided I needed to weight it down in order to guarantee a flat top, so I found a jar that coincidentally was the same size as the brim. I further weighted the jar down with two books. So by Saturday, when I head over to the One Horse Popiscle Stand and see Butch, there will be a tam for him.
He can hardly wait, I'm sure. I can feel the waves of kitty thrilldome all the way from here.
At the very least, it will make a nice Christmas ornament for E--'s tree.
E-- and I were discussing the various settings that Butch would prefer to be photographed in with his tam. If we can get a little bottle of wine and a little cheese plate, that would be nice. Butch suggested small bongos, but those are hard to come by 'Way Out West. Butch even pointed out that he can play bongos as they do not require thumbs. At any rate, I will post a photograph of said tam and perhaps of said cat later.
Meanwhile, the French Market Bag has been resumed and has gained a few rows. Maybe I should not start any new projects until all three of the ones that are in progress are finished.
Let's see how long that idea lasts.
