The tree in our front yard was screaming "Autumn!" at us the other day. The leaves were a gorgeous, burning orange with dark margins, and the berries a deep maroon color. The wind was blowing when I brought the camera out to take the picture so it's a little out of focus. Then again, all of my photos are out of focus. So if you think your eyes are going bad, it's because mine are.I joined the Socktoberfest (see the Button Bin in the sidebar). My plan is to finish the Ombre Hombre socks and to work on spinning a yarn that can be used to knit socks during the month. I even passed up on the sock yarn at Shuttles, Spindles and Skeins in Boulder yesterday, although it was good to be in a really nice fiber arts store during Weaving and Spinning Week. I didn't pass up on a set of Lantern Moon ebony DPNs, though. It was a great extravagance, but I think I'll take that in lieu of trying to find a suitable reward yarn for my gym attendance, since that is turning into an epic search on the scale of The Holy Grail.
S, S and S is a great store. You can find just about anything you want for spinning, weaving, or knitting there. I looked longingly at the rovings, available in nearly any color you can think of. They have spinning wheels, looms, equipment, bags, books, magazines, sheeply bric a brac, and yarn, yarn, YARN. It's funny, I don't go nuts in there, but get overwhelmed by all of the beautiful fibers and just wander around feeling skeins and wondering where the heck I'd put a big pile of that pearly white roving, and after a good long look I finally emerge with a small piece of equipment or a little wool. If you're in the Denver area, scoot over to Boulder and check them out. There are a couple of other really nice yarn stores in D-town, but S, S and S is worth the trip out.
