I can't walk and chew gum, let alone knit while in motion, but I moved between projects all weekend, like a cow grazing in the grass. Some rows here, a few rows there, a new project in between -- didn't get a darned thing done except knit. What a wonderful weekend!
The second sleeve on Pellew's Pelisse is only ten rows from completion. The Ombre Hombre Sock has grown by about an inch of k2p2 ribbing, and a whole new sock sprouted on the ebony needles in an unguarded moment. The KnitPicks package arrived on Friday, so I had to closely examine the two little balls of Simple Stripes, in the Crayon color combination. Then, I found myself determining a matching beginning point for both balls... then I had to make them into center-pull balls with my nostepinne... and then I started wondering how ebony needles knit... and then poof! there was about an inch and a half of k2p2 ribbing on them.
The verdict on yardage in Ballybrae Tweed for the Sienna Cardigan is... yes, there's enough, and it's a great yarn for that project. It's knit at a larger gauge than the Go-Everywhere-Go-With-Everything-Cardigan (Pellew's Pelisse) so it shouldn't take as long. As some knitbloggers say, "heh."
There have been a lot of packages arriving at Orchard Ranch in the past few weeks. I haven't purchased clothes for a few years, mostly because I haven't been thrilled with what's been on offer, but the catalogs this season have been showing some fun tweeds and woolens, great basics, and even some intriguing knits. Instead of waiting for things to go on sale, as is my usual habit (read: excuse for not spending money; I'm a skinflint), I just made a list of priorities and started ordering things and for the first time in many years, I have a closet full of clothing that I don't mind wearing and neat shoes to go under them. I can even be well turned out in casual clothes for a weekend event! Nobody will recognize me.
And, these new clothes virtually guarantee that I will lose weight, enough so that I won't be able to wear them for very long.
Now let's see if I can be disciplined enough to finish Pellew's Pelisse this week.
Edited to add: Sleeve done and cooling off. What's next?
