Interesting pattern I've never done before: check.
Yarn in impossible color: check.
Needles to accomplish gauge: check.
Recent frogging experience: check. (I'm going to need this one.)
Okay, I'm ready for Summer of Socks! My first project will be "Child's French Sock" from Nancy Bush's book, Knitting Vintage Socks. It not only has a patterned stitch, but narrow lace panels and a new way of doing the heel. It's time I stopped taking sock knitting for granted.
Speaking of taken for granted sock knitting, I found the dropped stitch in the Rainbow sock, finally, and it's in such a place that I can't just tink down and fix it. This discovery ocurred immediately after I had spent about an hour trying to untangle the center pull knot that spewed from the center of my yarn ball. In the end, I had to cut off about thirty yards of yarn to get it straightened out, and then get knitting again. Anyway, this sock is going to be frogged until there are the correct number of stockinette stitch loops ready to be put back on needles, whenever I choose to do that.
The Stonington Shawl was also frogged, but it's going back on the needles again immediately.
And then this morning we heard that a co-worker's tiny daughter is undergoing chemotherapy so tonight I'm going to knit her a cotton chenille cap in girlie pink, and maybe put some felted flowers on it. Gotta run now and hunt up a pattern for a six year old head.
